Oscars 2020: Things you should know about 92nd Academic Awards

The Oscars 2020 has finally over after a boisterous award session with lots of surprises and unexpected winners. Here we will be going to tell you about the 92nd academic awards which you should know till the next year’s Oscars.

Oscars 2020 again in Hollywood:

Hollywood, Los Angeles is hosting the Oscars since 2002. Oscars 2020 was also held there at the Dolby Theatre. Oscars 2020 took place on Sunday, February 9 at 5:00 PM according to Pacific timezone (PST and 8:00 PM according to Eastern timezone (EST).

Dress code of Oscars 2020:

Oscars 2020 had not any specific dress code for the attendees although Natalie Portman’s dress was found more attractive than other actresses. 


The Host of the Oscars 2020:

In Oscars 2020, there was no host specifically there to present the 92nd academic awards. This pattern has followed from last year’s Oscars which also went without a host for the very first time in the history of Oscars academic awards. Though awards ceremony was presented by the some famous actors and actresses including Mindy Kaling, Olivia Colman, Tom Hanks, Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman, Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek, Keanu Reeves, Beanie Feldstein, Penelope Cruz, Rebel Wilson, Spike Lee, Sandra Oh, Rami Malek, TimotheeChalamet, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Zazie Beetz.

Performances in Oscars 2020:

The most surprising performance was given by Eminem on his song “Lose Yourself” in Oscars 2020. Other songs which were performed on the stage was five songs which were in nominees as well. Like Cynthia Erivo sang “Stand up” from the movie of Harriet; Idina Menzel sang the song of Frozen II from the Disney sequel, “Into the Unknown”  and Elton John performed “Love me again” from Rocketman. To increase the spark of the night, some other musicians were performed too like Janelle Monae and Billie Eilish.

Announcement of Nominees for Oscars 2020:

Oscars 2020’s nominees were disclosed on January 13 in which Joker was on top by appearing in 11 categories of nominees. 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Irishman were selected for 10 nominations.

Winners of Oscars 2020:

Best Picture:

Mostly people expected that Joker will win the Best Picture award in Oscars 2020. But Parasite won the award of Best Picture by competing not only joker as well as Ford v Ferrari, Marriage Story, Little Women, 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as well.

Best Actor in Lead Role:

One of the most awaited awards, the Best Actor in Lead role won by most expected actor Joaquin Phoenix for the movie of Joker. In the list of nominations, Leonardo DiCaprio for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes and Adam Driver for Marriage Story were there.

Best Actress in Lead Role:

Winner of the Best Actresses in Lead Role is Renee Zellweger for the movie Judy. Some other big names were also in the nomination like Scarlett Johansson for Marriage Story, Saoirse Ronan for Little Women, Cynthia Erivo for Harriet and Charlize Theron from Bombshell.

Best Supporting Actor and Actress:

The award of Best Supporting Actor and Actress went to Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Laura Dern for Marriage Story.

Best Director:

Parasite’s Director, Bong Joon-ho won the award of best director in Oscars 2020. Todd Phillip (Joker), Martin Scorsese (The Irishman), Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Sam Mendes (1917) were also in the nominees. 

Best Live Action Short:

The Neighbors’ Window won the Best Live Action Short award. In nominees, there were Brotherhood, A sister, Saria and Nefta Football Club was also there.

Best Original Score:

 In Best Original Score, Joker won this award by competing for other nominations as Marriage story, 1917, Little Women and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Best Animated Short:

Oscars 2020’s Best Animated Short winner was Hair love. Dcera (Daughter), sister, Kitbull and Memorable were also in nominations.
